Soft Abs & FULL COLOUR HYPE Reception @ Modern Fuel
Retrospective (2003-2008) of concert posters, art and other print work from local institution Ben Nelson. Loosen your boundaries with the abstract paintings in the Soft Abs exhibit. 7pm-10pm; remarks at 8pm. Free.
Slippery Rabbits, False Face @ The Artel
Possibly lonesome music in a packed room; the much anticipated debut of new Kingston band False Face. $5, door 8pm, bands start by 9pm — so afterwards you’ll have time to see BISON (Autonomous Social Centre, 75 Queen St.), who will explode the heart in your chest.
If you prefer old-style recklessness: Old Time Square Dance w/ Sheesham & Lotus @ St. James Parish Hall (Union & Barrie St) 8pm.
Monday, Nov 10:
John Porter, Super 8 Filmmaker @ The Artel
On Monday night at The Artel, the Toronto-based film genius John Porter will present a screening of his Super 8 film experiments. Analogue awesomeness and visual surprises you won’t see anywhere else. 8pm. Free.
