Live Music:
Montreal-via-Cape Breton singer/songwriter Angela Desveaux will play an intimate show at The Artel; introspective folk with hints of country and folk. “Relationships can be the stuff of tawdry art but Desveaux is a skilled expressionist, crafting heavy tunes with poise.” (EYE Weekly) Opening performance from Kingston’s Great Danes (featuring Apple Crisp’s own food critic). Saturday 8pm @ The Artel, $10
Art Talk:
In conjunction with the current Soft Abs painting exhibit at Modern Fuel, Professor Robert Linsley (U of Waterloo) will give an Artist Talk on New Research in Abstraction. Get answers to questions like, “How much information can a canvas bear?” Saturday 3pm @ Modern Fuel Gallery
Classic Movie:
What a rarity — a 35mm classic film screening in Kingston. Cinema Kingston is providing some Texas heat on a cold Sunday night with a screening of Giant, George Stevens’ 1956 unifying epic about the Western spirit. Oversized dreams, oil, melodrama and justice in abundance! The screening will feature an introduction about Money, Oil, and America Today and Yesterday – by Geoff Smith (Professor Emeritus). Sunday 7pm @ Etherington Hall, $8
Kingston Film Debut:
Test screening party of experimental short film Milo (35 min), directed by Kingston’s Cameron Tomsett. Holy smokes, look at these film stills. Tuesday @ The Grad Club: screenings at 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00pm with a special performance by Ianspotting at 11:00 PM.
Coming Soon:
- SoulJazz Orchestra @ Alfies (Dec 6)
- Fun Christmas Party Spectacular @ Modern Fuel (Dec 11)
